The smell of popcorn, the giggles of excitement and the snacks being taken out of any pocket I could find in my purse. I love these moments. These memories. It might not be much to some, but to me, it is everything. I also believe it means a lot to the children as well. See, we don’t go to the movies very often; with Disney Plus, Netflix, STARZ and all the other wonderful ways to watch shows and movies. I don’t recall going to the movie theaters often as a child. Though I wouldn’t say we didn’t go, I just have a fuzzy memory. I remember going while I was in high school, with my friends. I remember going to the drive in theaters as well, but again, not often. I know my parents took my brother, and I’m sure I even went with aunts, uncles and cousins… But these days I don’t remember as much. I’ll be lucky if I remember if I ate today, which is probably why I have, as The Lord of The Rings movie once stated, had second and third meals.
This summer was a summer of movies for us. Starting with the movie, IF, with Ryan Reynolds. Little did I know it would be a tear-jerker, and I was the only adult with four children watching this movie. A movie I thought was cute, but expected a lot more laughter, brought myself, the children and the young couple behind us TO TEARS! No, I didn’t pack tissues, I needed room for our candies. Haha

Well, the next visit would be fewer tears, as we went to Despicable Me 4. This was a very special outing. Not only is one of Isaac’s obsessions being Despicable me and the minions, but our (Great) Grandmother and Aunt and Uncle tagged along with us. I have to say that it was the best movie outing for me.
But our movie trip didn’t end there. We finally watched Inside Out 2! After taking photos nonstop throughout the week, and yes, we had candy! I must say I believe Inside Out to be my favorite movie out of the three. We’re already beginning a list for Fall/Winter! Moana 2 of course, and WICKED, a definite MUST! Mufasa and Sonic 3. So many family outings in our future.
I hope the children look back at these memories, as I do with my own childhood memories. They may not be the memories of watching movies at the theaters with my family, but they are even better. The Blockbuster movie trip, picking out our own “movie theater candies”, there was one like a Reese’s cup, but with carmel, MY “go to” movie night snack as a child. This would be one of my favorite memories in our living room on a movie night, including trying to “hide” behind a pillow to stay up later.
